Civic Tower and Town Hall

Civic Tower and Town Hall

In an elevated position, the building took on its current form in the 17th century despite undergoing significant renovations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The civic tower dates back to 1569 and preserves a bell from 1643

The Town Hall took on its current form in the 17th century, while the interior was defined in the post-unification years. The civic tower, designed by the Ostrense residents Michele Corazzini and Gerolamo Arcangeli, was built in 1569 by Francesco da Modena and has a bell tower dating back to 1643. The municipal residence houses interesting artifacts and works of art; halfway up the entrance staircase, a metrical panel from 1560 is visible; the old council chamber (now a waiting room) is elegant, with beautiful ceiling decorations. Inside the building are also kept some historical relics, including an autograph note by Giuseppe Garibaldi addressed to the photographer Pavia, a gift from fellow citizen Lino Lauretani. The complex underwent significant renovations in the 19th and 20th centuries.
